OMG, you guys!! So you know how pretty much every industry has its own celebrities? Like, Warren Buffet is a business-world celebrity, and Gordon Ramsay is a celebrity chef? Well, the photography world has its own celebrities, too! And on … Continue reading

Hi! Just a quick post to let you see what I was up to from about August through December (besides moving!). These are just the highlights from the newborn photography sessions. I’ll be sharing some family photos soon, too! August: … Continue reading
Oh my goodness, I am exhausted. I have really been pushing myself lately. I feel like each minute of every day has a scheduled item attached to it and any variance from that schedule causes me crazy stress.
This afternoon, I decided to make myself a chai latte for a mid-day perk, but when I pulled the steaming mug from the microwave, it struck the lip of the turntable, and it spilled all over my face, my clothes, and my kitchen. After thinking a few curse words, I set about cleaning up the kitchen, all the while thinking, “I really don’t have time for this!”
Since I have been so busy lately, I’ve come up with this thing where, when I feel like something has gone wrong, I try to find some good in it. I mean, otherwise, I’ll just sit there and cry (and I’ve done my share of that, too). So today, as I was cleaning the sticky chai from the floor with my Method lavender all-purpose spray, I thought, “Well, hey, at least my kitchen smells good now!” It was something! I also took about 30 seconds in the shower to just love the warm water.
Here is my real escape… sleeping babies. You cannot look at a sleeping baby and not feel a little bit relaxed, right?
Here are some from a recent session with beautiful little Alina, only a week old!
I feel better already! I hope the rest of your week is perfectly relaxing (mine, too). We deserve it, don’t we?!
I’m totally cracking up writing this post because my husband said I could “not write a blog about that song. It is absolutely ridiculous.” Oh yeah? Watch me!
I don’t think we actually had an official prom song, but I do remember that at least half of the people there went crazy and jumped onto the floor when Wham’s “Jitterbug “song was played.
I actually had a pretty crabby evening tonight… running errands with two kids in tow is not fun, but then I started talking to my husband about high school and proms. I looked this song up on You Tube, and we both started dancing regardless of my bad mood and his being all feverish and sickly with a cold. Here, you try – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlCRcR50aI8. See, you’re smiling now, too, right?
So the reason this all came up is that I had the honor of photographing a high school friends’ newborn son two weekends ago. As if photographing newborns wasn’t fun enough, it was so great seeing Michelle Donachy Knisley again after so many years and also talking shop with her (because she’s a photographer, too! Visit her site!).
Just like the Jitterbug song, photos of newborns make me smile no matter how rotten my afternoon has been. 🙂 Here is Mr. Nolan Knisley!
Love how his arms and legs are all stacked up! More photos of Nolan will be posted to Facebook, too, so look for more there!
Before I go, I wanted to give you an update on the contest! I hit my goal of 500 fans and then some! At the time of writing this, I’m up to 530! 🙂 Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen! I will definitely be giving away TWO free photo shoots on February 5th, so if you haven’t entered already, you can do so on this post. Thanks again and good luck to you!
P.S. My husband just admitted that he was impressed with how deftly I was able to tie the Jitterbug song into a photography blog. Props to me!
For me, Christmas is about love, giving, life and birth. So I thought it would be apropos to share with you these photos of Miss Ella Kennard, a little blessing from heaven that I met when she was a week … Continue reading
Do you recall the movie Ghostbusters 2, where there was evil, pink slime running under the city making everyone grumpy, and the grumpier they got, the more slime there was?
Sometimes I feel like I’m in that movie, but the slime is running under DC instead of New York. It’s hard to listen to the news these days (especially in this town, where 75% of the stories are about politics) and not get a little, well, pissy. After a while, all of the negativity starts seeping into your pores, and you grunt about and complain about more and more until you just feel angry for no reason.
This isn’t a post about politics, it’s about that feeling. I’m here to sing you out of it. Remember that tune from the movie, “Your love keeps lifting me, keeps on lifting me, lifting me higher and higher” that counteracted the pink slime? Well, I do believe that we need some good news in our lives to counteract all of that crazy. So here is your lift for the week… Baby Walker Anderson.
He was only two weeks old when I photographed him last weekend!
Even more excited to use my new hats from SimplyBasicDesigns on Etsy! I’ve had my eye on this blue one for almost a year.
I hope these brought a smile to your day and help to snap you out of your pink slime-induced funk. If you want to get a weekly dose of sunshine sent straight to your inbox, please sign up to receive my blog via email newsletter on right side the Home page. 🙂
