Virtual Tour of my Newborn & Baby Photography Studio | Loudoun County Newborn Photographer

Hi all!  I made some changes and additions to my in-home newborn and baby portrait studio last year, and I wanted to share them with you!

As you enter the double doors of the newborn photography studio, this is the first thing you’ll see!

This is my collection of neutral-colored blankets and props.  I can never have enough neutrals!  I’m always on the lookout for great textures and stretchy fabrics, and of course, they all need to be machine-washable!

On the wall to your right is my favorite part of the studio… my wall of newborn baby hats!

Yes, I counted them! Over 260 newborn hats to date, and there’s always more on the way!  I’m OBSESSED!  This doesn’t included the dozens of hats I have for older babies as well.  All of my baby hats are made from the finest yarns like alpaca, mohair, angora, and some silk mixes as well!  I keep them all color-coordinated to help me style your session more easily.

This year, I upgraded my studio rugs from scratchy wool flokatis to softer-than-soft sheepskin rugs.  Children love to roll around on them!  In addition to the white and chocolate brown sheepskin, I also have a taupe one.  Here are all three in use!

I can easily remove the sheepskin rugs to use the brown and white-washed wood flooring underneath.

This year, I also strung up lights on the white wooden backdrop to add a little holiday cheer to the studio portraits.

I love the effect!

Continuing on!  To the left of the shelving with the neutral-colored blankets is the seating for my guests and a helpful canvas display that showcases many of the canvas sizes I offer.  If you don’t see a certain size here, I have used other sizes in canvas displays throughout my home and will happily show them to you when you come to visit!

To the left of the couch is my color-coordinated shelf of colorful blankets and wraps.

Though this is all there is to see in the newborn & baby studio, I also use the basement of my home for family & maternity portraits!  One large wall is open for portraits with a plain background.

I also add a high-back gray chair, white stool or tufted, blue chair for portraits.  Here’s an example with the gray chair against the same wall.

For cake smash sessions, I use this same space to add a white seamless paper backdrop that we can get messy and then just toss out when we’re done!

In the same room, I’ve added a light-gray tufted couch that can be used for family & maternity portraits.

Finally, we also have a guest bedroom in our basement that I’ve redecorated for maternity photo sessions and portraits of newborns with their older siblings.  It’s a cherry sleigh bed with a cream-colored duvet and pillows.

It’s so great to have such a versatile space to use for my studio sessions!
